Meeting Margaret McAllister

Year 4 Meet a Famous Author!

Earlier this week year 4 pupils were fortunate enough to get to meet Margaret McAllister at Keighley library. She read some fables to us from her latest published work:

Then we pooled our ideas with pupils from Eastwood Primary and created our own tale. You could hardly believe the mischief our young lion cub got up to in his Grandma’s bedroom! Our fable had the moral “Mind your manners!”

Since the visit, quite a number of children have written their own fables. Why not post them here and we’ll try to guess your moral?

  1. The Lion and the Monkey

On one hot summer’s day in the jungle there was a Lion and a Monkey. The Lion said’
“How about a race Monkey, right up to the hungry crocodile?”
The monkey said, “Yeah, sure. Why not? It is a beautiful, sunny day.”
The Lion was ready, so was the Monkey. The very slow turtle went and said,
    “Get ready…on your marks…get set…GO!”
Half way there the cunning lion took a short cut before the monkey even saw him. Then suddenly the lion became very hungry and vicious – so he decided to take a nap.
The lion woke up when he heard the monkeys cheer, they made a lot of noise. Now they finished the race the lion became very vicious because the monkey had beaten him.
The Lion let out a big roar! And started to attack the monkeys, but the monkeys safely escaped up a big, vast tree.
