A group of Year 11 students successfully completed a two week intensive British Computer Science ECDL Extra Course at the Innovation Centres. The students, all from Oakbank School, attended every day and their time keeping and commitment was exemplary. Responding well to the work placed based environment, the students gained valuable skills for future employment, in addition to becoming effective Microsoft Office practitioners. The widely recognised qualification is sure to give them an advantage in the competitive jobs market, in addition to being equivalent to a GCSE B grade worth 46 points. The high pass rate on the course – 93%, is evidence of the high commitment shown by the students who all gained in confidence and were motivated to return to school to complete their GCSE courses.
