More reasons to shop at Morrisons…

Last week we were lucky enough to have nine volunteers from our good friends at Morrisons who came to help build a path and some flower beds on our Drummond Road site.

The wonderful Colin, from BCEP, looked after our volunteers. Although the weather was freezing, he kept them warm by keeping them very busy! Five children from Mr Watsons class kept our volunteers entertained during lunch and then went over to Drummond Road to give them a hand. The children worked really hard, taking turns with the wheelbarrow and helping to make one of the flowerbeds.

The children had a great time – they wanted to know when they could come back and do some more work on the ground. It’s fantastic to see the children so enthusiastic about developing the land!

Do any of you remember coming to help develop the land on Drummond Road? What did you do? What did you like best?

I remember going to the Drummond road site last year as a school counciler.I was planning out(with the other school councillors)what things would be most appropirate in which places such as a football pitch should be where there was a big area to kick the ball around and maybe a swing where there are a few trees!!

I can remember that on a Saturday we had went there and we had seen what we wanted to put there such as a football pitch and lots and lots of other things. But u so agree with Safa too.

  4. How did you now a school? Hav you seen ar school blog?

The children have done lots of work on Drummond Road. You are quite right Safa that the School Council visited the site and decided what features they would like and where we should put them. Many children have been involved in bulb planting, collecting wild seeds, planting trees and building a path. Soon we should have a plan of how we are going to develop the site which will include ideas from the children, the staff and the local community. I can’t wait to see work start on the development!

We had a great time last week. It was really nice to meet the children and they did a great job of putting the woodchip out along the path. (I also enjoyed my lunch in the school canteen; been a while since I had a school dinner!)

Even though it was cold and wet we had a lot of fun and it was nice to be outside. I hope the ground development continues well.

Have a great Christmas and New Year!

Thanks for letting us come and help out at your Drummond Road site. We really enjoyed it (even though it was very cold!), and were happy to be able to help. Thanks for the lunch, and also to the children for coming to visit us while we were working. We hope you enjoy your garden, and that you get the chance to make more improvements soon.

I also had an excellent day helping out, and was really impressed with the childrens’ enthusiasm on a cold winter’s day. Thank you very much for the friendly welcome from all at Miriam Lord, and for a very tasty lunch!

Best wishes for improving the rest of the garden, it’ll be a great place for the children to play and for the local community in the future.

It was brilliant to come and help your school develop the outdoor space last week. Even though it was windy, rainy and a little snowy we kept warm because there was loads to do.

Merry Christmas and happy New Year.
