As part of our new topic children in Year 3 visited Murton Park in York. We spent the day living as soldiers from the Roman army.
We even had to sign a contract to say that we agreed to stay for 25 years and that we would not get married! At the end of the day we got paid a silver Roman coin!
We took part in weapons training, marching drills and guarding practice. In the afternoon we had to battle a Celt who had come to try and reclaim land! A good time was had and we learnt lots of new things.
What can you tell us about the Romans?
Do you have any questions about our visit or what we learnt?
Please comment below and year 3 will try and answer your questions?

Romans enemies were called celts
In the roman army there were only girls.
